SYMBOLS OF CONTINUITY -- MAYAN CALENDAR - HUGE SIGH OF RELIEF
Millions of terrified humans are releasing a big sigh of relief as news is breaking about a Mayan Calendar that was found that goes beyond 12/21/2012. Sigh Of Relief!! While many were worrisome and fretting, because of rumors that this meant the end of the world, most in the communities of wisdom cultivation were already assured intuitively that there was more to it than just another reason for panic – a favorite human pass time. PLUS, Qigong and Pranayama practitioners are naturally doing proactive sighs of relief regularly, on purpose though out their days — every day.
THE MAYAN CALENDAR AND THE END OF THE WORLD
It has been fairly obvious that the main reason for what seemed like the end of the Mayan Calendar and the proposed end of the world was that the calendar development consortium of the Mayan communities had scheduled their regular convention as usual — BUT THEN — the Spanish in search of the Fountain of Youth and cheap Gold wiped the Mayans out.
However, now we know that the Mayan Calendar Consortium did continue calculating for the next issue of the calendar — and that the calendar has always been cyclical. In otherwords after a cycle — such a cycle is concluding 12/21/2012 — the calendar starts up again through another cycle. This is one of the reasons the calendar is round – like many other symbols of continuity from all of the great original cultures – example – the Chinese Tai Chi.
MAYAN CALENDAR WIZARDS
In addition to the cyclical nature of the Mayan Calendar, the calendar consortium actually did refine the calendar to address much later dates than earlier supposed by those who like to tease or even strike fear into the hearts of people. This is such a fascinating and timely news story. As you read it, do have a few deep breaths with sighs of relief. Think to yourself — how do I feel that there are those who like the thrill of scaring people with things like this? Think, how shall I live to feel more secure in a world that is never completely secure?

QUOTING ONE OF THE SCIENTISTS
“The Mayan calendar is going to keep cycling for billions, trillions, octillions of years into the future,” said archaeologist David Stuart of the University of Texas, who worked to decipher the glyphs. “Numbers we can’t even wrap our heads around.”
Note that this is all in full accord with the astronomical wisdom of most indigenous cultures that set their cycles in periods of 12, not just to align with the twelve months of the natural year, but also to align with that 12 year cycle of return to the center line of the local galaxy — the Milky Way. This is also true of the Chinese calendar which has a year of the Water Dragon every 12 years.
A ONCE IN 26,000 YEARS WINtER SOLSTICE
Personally, I sense that it is worthy of note, celebration, study and even of worship that our sun’s relative position, from our vantage point on Earth, progresses in how we view it from season to season, year to year. A key annual calendar point for noting changes from year to year is to compare the position of the Sun in relation to the Milky Way at the Winter Solstice. Because of the nature of both continuity and change in our world (actually most associated with the natural wobble of the Earth’s axis) and perhaps in all worlds, the Sun’s position in the heavens relative to the Milky Way shifts. Note in the image “SOLSTICE INTERSECT” that the sun crosses the center axis of the Milky Way in 2012 on December 21st — the Winter Solstice. This is amazing — this happens once every 26,000 years!!
Note that on other years the sun would be in different positions, not aligned with the central axis of the Milky Way. What the Mayans, knew, revered, celebrated and even worshipped was that only in certain years did the Winter Solstice Celebration happen to concur with the Sun crossing the center axis of the Milky Way. It is very Kool, but it is not the end of the world. It is the end of a cycle of extreme astronomical uniqueness, it is the end of a cycle of the Mayan Calendar AND it is a very special Winter Solstice. ONE OF THE MORALS OF THE STORY
There could certainly be a disaster at some point – the dinosaurs froze in the nuclear winter of an ancient meteorite dust cloud. Ice ages and ages of huge temperature rises come and go. What to do? Well, the wisdom traditions teach us to go with the flow, to understand that while it looks like we are victims of this or that terrible crisis or tragedy, we are actually able to seek and find peace within. KInd like — AS THE SUN OF YOUR TRUE NATURE INTERSECTS WITH THE CENTER OF YOUR OWN BEING, YOU WILL EXPERIENCE A SENSE OF LIBERATION FROM HARM, A SENSE OF IRREVOCABLE WELLNESS. When light comes within — would that be enlightening? It may seem glib, but it is promised that when we learn to cultivate deep trust, make peace with God, merge with Quantum Unity through our practice of meditation, Qigong, Tai Chi, Yoga, prayer and other “portals” to our deeper nature, there is a greater sense of peace in the midst of complexity – a light within.
For now it is exciting to know that, perhaps, the hyped doomsday 12/21/2012, will actually be a Winter Solstice celebration to remember instead of a horrific tragedy. Hey, lets do Qigong together Friday 12/21 – I will certainly be at my Tai Chi and Qigong spot near the Pacific Ocean on that day, as I am on all days. Because it is the Winter Solstice I will be there in the mood of greater focus and intent. How about you? “Out beyond ideas of wrongdoing and rightdoing, there is a field. I will meet you there.” Then, on the 13th, we will likely be awakening to another dynamic day, with plenty to celebrate and plenty to solve — as usual! For right this minute, take a deep breath and release with a nice big Sigh of Relief! Assuredly this was a regularly utilized breath practice of the Mayans who would be preparing now for the coming celebration of the Winter Solstice and the Sun’s intersect with the center of our star system.
