Day One – Qigong and Tai Chi as Portals

Good Friends in Qigong and Tai Chi —

Old Friends and Colleagues, New Friends and Future Colleagues,

Tai Hao Ji La = WOW!!!

What great fortune for those of us who have found our way to Tai Chi (Taiji) and Qigong (Chi Kung) — Mind-Body practices that can provide a pathway to stress mastery, healing, life balance and even be a portal to connection with the aspect of ourselves that is transcendent.Dr Jahnke in Taiji Symbol

I will explain Tai Hao Ji La momentarily, but first ——

A warm welcome to you as I inaugurate this blog on 1/1/11. It is a year of many ONEs, including 1/11/11, in a few days, and then 11/11/11. All, if you are inclined to the concept of ONEness, are opportunities to acknowledge the ONE. Every moment can even be such an opportunity.

It is my sense, clearly biased, that Tai Chi and Qigong are among the great ONEness vehicles. With over 40 years of involvement in health care, medicine, mind-body practice, teaching, writing, lecturing and the ultimate practice of sustaining a connection with that ONE, I am clear that Tai Chi and Qigong are a portal allowing for connection with the deeper self and the ultimate ONE. This clarity comes from hearing from those that I have met in the Qi Cultivation field and and many of those that I (we) have trained through the IIQTC and through Americas great retreat centers – Esalen, Omega, Kripalu.

The blogs at http://IIQTC.org and http://TaiChiEasy.org include articles and insights of those who are trained as Integral Qigong and Tai Chi Teachers, as well as Tai Chi Easy Practice Leaders. I will use this Feel The Qi Blog to express more personal insights.

Brief introduction:

– Founder of the Institute of Integral Qigong and Tai Chi — http://IIQTC.org

– Developer of Tai Chi Easy — http://TaiChiEasy.org

– Co-founder National Qigong Association

– Author – The Healer Within (Harper-Collins), The Healing Promise of Qi (McGraw-Hill)

So, why did I write Tai Hao Ji La = WOW!! Because it is an exciting time. Qigong and Tai Chi can leverage personal potential in many, many areas of your life – your health, your meditation, your productivity and more.

Tai = Immense, Ji = Ultimate. That is the same as in Taiji (Tai Chi), the meditative movement mind-body practice that has healing, exercise, stress mastery, brain plasiticity, longevity, martial arts and meditation applications. However, the real meaning of  Taiji is described with words like supreme, huge or immense to modify words like ultimate, quintessential, superlative or absolute. Taiji is not a thing. Taiji is Supreme Ultimate or Immense Absolute.

Hao = good or great. La = !!

Tai Hao Ji La = Immense Great Ultimate!!

This is an amazing journey – Chinese medicine, Tai Chi, Qigong, travel to China (8 times), being published by Harper-Collins and McGraw-Hill, co-founding the National Qigong Association (NQA), founding the IIQTC, gaining incredible colleagues in the “Integral View” and much more. PLUS — 2010 and 2011 mark the 10 year anniversary of the IIQTC – 300 certified teachers and nearly 500 Tai Chi Easy Practice Leaders. This first blog post is a blessing and an invocation for the continuation of good works.

Tai Hao Ji La — also implies a sense of wonder and awe. I am sincerely looking forward to knowing you better and working with you directly.
